Drip Irrigation

The pictures show a low cost drip irrigation system with pressure compensated drip tubes.

Pressure compensation ensures that the supplied water is spread equally and each drip point receives the same amount of water. The system works with an input pressure of 0.17 bar only. In the present case a rain barrel  is installed at a height of 1.7 m. A filter prevents clogging of the the drip tubes. The irrigation control system operates automatically. A capacitive humidity sensor measures soil moisture and together with a time relay activates a bore hole pump, that fills the tank. A level switch in the rain barrel prevents overflow. The irrigation control is powered by  a solar system.

I can offer drip irrigation kits from Netafim and NaanDanJain at reasonable prices. The decisive advantage of these  drip-kits is, that  they perform well  with a hydrostatic head of 1.7 m only. Additional components such as a pump or pressure reducing valve are not needed! The Netafim "Kleingarten-Kit" is particularly suitable for irrigation of smaller areas and for educational purposes.
